Mrs.Poornima Kumar
The Founder of Virgo is Mrs. Poornima Kumar, who started her entrepreneurial journey in 1993 with the popular Virgo Summer Camps for children, the first of its kind in Chennai, which she conducted sucessfully till 2011. The next year in 1994 she founded the Virgo Fitness & Beauty Centre which she is running till date. Poornima's Virgo Electronic Slimming was also a first of its kind in 1994 which appealed to a lot of celebrities as it gave instant results in weight loss.
To encourage and motivate women to take care of their body and beauty, and to celebrate the anniversaries of Virgo, Ms. Poornima conducted 5 shows called the ASHOK NAGAR SPECIAL WOMEN from 1995 onwards.
The popularity and media attention of this show gave her the impetus to take it to a higher level - and MRS. CHENNAI was born in the year 2000, which has now completed 16 seasons.
Poornima Kumar is also the Founder President of the Ashok Nagar Progressive Women's Associaition, started in 1995. She is on the committee of several clubs and Associations and has won several Achievement Awards.
Mrs. Poornima Kumar of Virgo Event Management and Virgo Fitness was Honored by a Woman Achiever Award by Smt. K Gomathi IRS and organised by the Ajantha Finee Arts, for her services in Empowering Women through Fitness, Personality and Talents for the past 25 years. She has given women innumerable opportunities to showcase their talents and win laurels which makes the women to become confident enough to start an enterprise of her own.
In Jan 2018 Poornima Kumar was selected as an delegate by Tamil Nadu Women Commission to represent the state at the National Commission Conference at Vigyan Bhavan on Jan 30th which celebrated its Silver Jubilee and was presided by Smt. Menaka Gandhi.
She has also contributed to Society through her Women's Association of which she is the Founder President for the last 23 years. Through this association she has contributed to the environment by greening Ashok Nagar by some 300 trees and taking care of the Balwadis in this Ashok nagar apart from several other service projects for girl children.
